1. INTRODUCTION

This guideline outlines the standards for product images uploaded to Earthen Living (www.earthenliving.in).

High-quality product images are critical to:

  • Building customer trust
  • Improving conversions
  • Maintaining platform consistency

While professional photography can be an investment, sellers are encouraged to create images that are reusable across multiple channels (website, marketing, social media).

These guidelines are divided into:

2. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

All product images must meet the following requirements:

2.1 File Format

  • Accepted formats: JPEG (.jpg / .jpeg) and PNG (.png)
  • TIFF or other formats are not supported

2.2 Image Dimensions

  • Minimum size: 1000 x 1000 pixels
  • Recommended: 1500 x 1500 pixels or higher
  • Resolution: 300 DPI (recommended for clarity)

2.3 Color Mode

  • Preferred: sRGB
  • CMYK is allowed but may result in color variation on screens

2.4 File Naming Convention

File names must include a valid product identifier:

  • SKU / Model Number / UPC / EAN

Important:

  • Avoid spaces, special characters, or unnecessary symbols
  • Use only alphanumeric characters

3. MAIN PRODUCT IMAGE REQUIREMENTS

The main image represents the product on listing and product pages and must adhere to the highest standards.

3.1 Product Representation

  • The image must clearly show the actual product being sold
  • It should be a real photograph, not a drawing or illustration

3.2 Background

  • Must be pure white (RGB 255, 255, 255)
  • No textures, shadows, or environmental backgrounds

3.3 Framing & Composition

  • Product should occupy at least 85% of the frame
  • Image must be:
    • Sharp and in focus
    • Well-lit with accurate colors
    • Clean edges and no distortion

3.4 Restrictions (Strictly Not Allowed)

  • Text, logos, or promotional graphics
  • Watermarks or branding overlays
  • Borders or frames
  • Multiple product bundles (unless sold together)
  • Background props or decorative elements
  • Offensive or inappropriate content

4. ADDITIONAL IMAGES (SECONDARY IMAGES)

Up to 6 additional images may be uploaded per product.

These may include:

  • Close-up shots
  • Usage demonstrations
  • Scale references (e.g., hand-held, room placement)
  • Packaging (front/back)
  • Raw material or ingredient visuals

4.1 Allowed Elements

  • Supporting objects for scale or usage context
  • Lifestyle representation (only in secondary images)

4.2 Restrictions

  • Must not mislead customers
  • Should not overpower the product
  • No excessive props or clutter

5. PRODUCT-SPECIFIC GUIDELINES

5.1 Handmade / Artisan Products

  • Natural variations are acceptable
  • Images must represent actual product quality and finish

5.2 Packaged Products

  • Include:
    • Front view
    • Back label (ingredients/details)
  • Ensure all text on packaging is legible

6. QUALITY STANDARDS

All images must:

Earthen Living reserves the right to:

  • Reject or remove images that do not meet these standards
  • Request re-submission of images
  • Edit images for platform consistency (where necessary)

  • Capture multiple angles
